The Test Server is now online and we are in need of testers. This is pretty much just a switch from FTB to Godcraft Launcher and a couple mods removed and a couple of mods added and a lot of config files gone through as well as some tweaks to the server.
Server of course is on mc.godcraft.com:2020 (Test Server) I also did not wipe the world since we were having fun draining the world so we might as well see our progress haha.
I'm happy to announce that Godcraft Adventures will be coming back very very soon! I'm hoping this weekend and I have a lot of work ahead of me and I like to thanks all the testers so far helping us test the new server and including a big thank you to Electrobot for all his help so far. Without you guys there would be no Godcraft.
But that does not mean we are done there yet. Even though we have had good and bad times and long and hard battles. We still have a lot of work ahead of us before we can get this off the ground.
All I can say so far the hype that has been building around this has pretty much gotten into the whole Adventure server mood. We had some great times and I think its time we restore that fun once again. This server is not going be a total wipe free server and down the road it might die and at that time will consider wiping but I do want to say if we keep playing it and enjoying it then she will keep on going!
So here is the game plan so far:
- Godcraft Launcher Setup.
- Major Client / Server Update for Mods.
- Cleaning up disabled mods and adding some old mods back in.
- And lots and lots of configuring and tweaking and more.
Questions to the Players: (Remember, I'm the one who always makes the calls and you guys get upset at me for them. Remember why I make them calls and then consider your answer before posting your answer. It take courage to make the tough calls even though it might make people dislike ya)
Would you like to keep Trains mod on the server? It's the only mod that has had a lot of issues so far on the server including crashing the server, crashing the client, and some major nasty dsync issues. Yes the mod is fun and it has trains but Railcraft now also has a stream engine and is also going that route. So the ultimate question is should we remove it and understand this mod is doomed to fail or keep it?
Gravisuite or PowerSuits? Gravisuite is easyier to make and comes with less features then PowerSuit. PowerSuit is a really amazing new mod with a crap ton of features and new features being added daily. Gravisuite is more easy to get to and PowerSuit is harder but lets you also create things at a early scale and build up onto them overtime (Upgrades). As this server is going to be around a while I would personally say PowerSuits are more suited haha PUN! for longer period server and Gravisuite is more for quickies. Also be aware if to many people fly around in Gravisuite its known to start lagging the server due to how many chunk loading and unloading is taken place.

Soul Shards do we remove it or keep it? This mode I personally was just going to remove it period because I think during the entire play of the last server all I could think of is entities lag. This mod pretty much is NEI at your finger tips but with a bit more lag and server resources. It's pretty cool at the same time but if everyone starts setting up 1 or 2 spawners and we add all the players up then you will find this mod is one of the worst lag issues of the server. On the Entire Godcraft frontiers 5 server this mod and Logi Pipes have been reasonable for most of the lag issues. You decide and no there is no configure options to make it harder or to nerf it at all. Like I said I do suggest it off but I want to bring the community more into this at least even communicate the reasons why something should be removed.
Portal Gun Keep or Leave it? The portal gun is pretty neat it offers the turrets and in the past I said it was pretty cheap mod letting you get around and etc. The mod has been suggested as a pretty nasty griefing tool even by large server admins who had configured their servers right. For example one can shoot a portal in someone's lot then take a machine or a tnt and push it through the portal and cause major griefing issues. Unforgettably we can disable a lot of things in this mod but overall this mod is a menace when it comes to griefing. I personally love the mod and enjoyed the hell out of it with the harder recipe but I do realize on a server like the one we are planning to run the portalgun is probably one of the best and easy to use griefing tools on the server. We can try our best to protect against this but overall its going to cause more harm then good.

So the big question of the day is for our next server trying to bring in more blood and offer something as fun as Adventure Server with Guests (Whitelist free and can build) Would you guys like FTB Launcher or Godcraft's Launcher?

- NO OptiFine (But you can still install it by hand)
The FTB Launcher is really only attractive by its name. It's actually less featured then our launcher and of course we have no control on updates. This includes if 1.5 comes and Redpower is not updated they will not update where we can.
When comes to Advertising we can do a bit more then we have in the past with FTB but we can also try new methods on the new server since we are allowing anyone to play.
Anyway's I would like to hear from you guys and girls what you would like and why.
